If you buy from the authorized dealer you do indeed have Omega's warranty- meaning that the dealer and Omega will be honoring it. With the Unauth. dealer, they offer you their warranty, and then their watch repair people (or the people they contract with) do the work. Now, Omega offers one year, and Ashford the three year (and you are right, their ability to survive is at issue here). The way I see it (or saw it, as I bought from Ashford) is that after that one year, if you had gone the authorized route, you are responsible for repair costs. Ashford offers two years support beyond that. IF they go under- and I didn't need them anyhow within that first year, then I am in the same boat as I would have been in buying through an authorized dealer anyhow- meaning that after the first year you are on your own. The big thing here, and why I went with Ashford, is to have a watch with the serial #'s intact, so that you do have the option of having Omega service it in the future. To me, it was worth the "gamble" and save the 48% that I did. Hope this is of help!
