Just a short related note.
Back in 1970, Michael Collins visited my high school for a presentation and Q&A. When he walked on stage, there was a momentary silence, as if the air was sucked out of the auditorium. Then as reality set in, Collins received a standing ovation.
I was fortunate enough to bring my copy of Life Magazine's group photo of Apollo 11 along with me and quickly made it to the foot of the stage for an autograph. I did see a flash of a stainless steel bracelet, but could not spot the watch.
Many thanks for this forum that connects the Speedmaster, the NASA program and those in love with watches.
