The only accurate way to determine the date by serial number is to have Omega look it up and tell you the production date.
Serial numbers are assigned based on complex procedures and other decisions made at the factory, none of which are easily followed from the outside world. So don't waste you time trying to reverse engineer their system. You will likely end up like I did--with lousy results and a headache!
Just have Omega look up any serial number you are interested in! That way you will have a definitive answer.
