Advice needed on SMP

This is my first automatic watch. I have a mid size bond model. I only wear this watch on the weekend and movado vizio during weekdays.
My question is how do I keep this watch running without winding too often because I afraid it will wear down soon. Right now I have to wind it once a week. All advices are appreciated.
