Re: advice on Sub vs SMP
In Response To: Re: advice on Sub vs SMP ()

On the surface, most people think the Rolex would be the watch of choice for the "got excess disposable income crowd"; however, I too contemplated purchasing a Sub versus an SMP 2531.80. In the end, after exhaustive research, I chose the SMP. My primary reason: Quality, fit, finish, refinement, style and panache of the Omega were equal to or exceeded that of the Rolex. The average person will perceive you are successful if you have a Rolex, however, the true watch afficianado will immediately recognize your true stature when you show that you have selected an Omega. Appealing to others is a primary reason for many people who purchase Rolex watches.

Also, there are MANY cheap, fake knock-offs of Rolex watches, whereas I have yet to see or even hear of Omega copies. Poorly repaired watches with improper second hands installed that some might mistake for a fake, etc., yes, but widespread marketing of fakes at tradeshows, not likely.

Finally, you will be left with a wad of cash if you purchase the Omega, whicj, if left buring a hole in your pocket, may be mailed directy to me...lol

Buy the SMP and Welcome to the Omega Club!

: It's a shame that Rolex has got this "used
: car dealer" tag.
: The Sub is a fantastic watch, came out in the
: fifties with a timeless design which whether
: we like it or not Omega have taken quite a
: few ideas from.
: The SMP is also a great watch and easily
: available (6 months wait for Sub in UK)
: Both watches are of a similar quality therefore
: the SMP is better value.
: However I believe the Sub to be the pioneer of
: the modern dive watch style its just a pity
: they got so expensive.
