I had the same problem a few months ago. I took a paperclip and pushed the two spring bars closer together. It's a relatively simple mechanism, and I doubt you would risk ruining the watch by trying this.
Johnny
: I've had an SMP (2055.80)auto for nearly two
: months. It runs like a top and is all-around
: great. However, it appears that the two
: opposing push buttons on the clasp (old
: style bracelet)have developed some slack,
: and it takes very little pushing of the two
: buttons to release the clasp.
: I've purposely looked at other new SMPs at
: local jewelers just to compare the push
: button 'springiness' to mine. Mine is not as
: springy as it should be. The clasp has never
: unexpectedly released, but I've taken a
: vernier caliper to the various parts in the
: mechanism and I estimate that the bars
: 'overlap' the back of the 'mushroom' by only
: 0.04 inch. Obvously, I'm afraid of losing
: the watch, especially while swimming.
: QUESTION 1: Has anyone else had this problem?
: QUESTION 2: How much should it cost to fix?
: (The watch is under warrenty, but the cost
: to send it to the auth. dealer may exceed
: the cost of having a local auth. dealer do
: the work.)
