: One solution my dealer suggested is to buy the
: strap version, and then buy the bracelet as
: an extra (although he said he wasn't
: positive that it would fit).
Shows how little these authorized dealers know. The new bracelet is an EXACT fit replacement for the old one. How else could they sell the exact same watch on either bracelet!
Buying the bracelet as a separate option is NEVER a good idea. You are right that you pay a high $ premium to do it that way.
You should ask if he can order the watch for you--make sure you give him the DIFFERENT model number of 2254.50, which directly refers to the one that has the bracelet you want. Possibly he was confused by trying to find options for the 2054.50.
