Exactly why I run this site!
An informed consumer will likely have a better experience, because they will know what to expect and what to do. This is particularly important these days when many 'professional' salespeople and repair departments don't know how to do their own jobs.
Often this seems to be because too many consumers don't know enough to question things, so the pros do not get called on it often enough when they fail to do their jobs properly.
