The Seamaster Pro models (both automatic and quartz versions) have an easy way to advance the date--it is called a 'quick-set date.'
Simply pull the crown out to the first click (might be the second click on the quartz--I forget) and rotate it forward and it will advance the date without changing the time.
I believe the GMT is the only current Seamaster model that still requires you to advance the hands forward 24 hours to advance the date.
