Service Nightmare is Resolved

My Omega US service nightmare is finally over. (See my post 3/30/2001)

After a lot of research and soul searching, I decided to take a credit towards a new style full size Seamaster black on black with old style basket weave bracelet, rather than replacing my mid size Bond Model. The difference in price was negligible, and I prefer the black face with the new style hands over the older "Bond" style, "My choice!" However, unlike some, I continue to prefer the older style "basket weave" Seamaster bracelet to the newer style "Speedy Pro/Oyster" link.

There is a noticeable difference in size and weight between the mid size I had and my new full size Seamaster, and the jury is still out as to which size I like better. For my vote, Omega should make one model in between the two sizes, but I guess their marketing strategy appeals to more people in different parts of the world.

Morals to the story: First, the U.S. Service Center dropped the ball, and I would be hesitant to use them again for anything other than essential warranty service. Second, my experience emphasizes the benefits of buying from a reputable authorized dealer, as mine got me an excellent resolution. Third, both my dealer and the Omega rep went well beyond my requests and expectations to make up for the Service Center's mistakes. Last but not least, I really, really like my new style Omega Seamaster!

BTW, did I mention I like my new Omega a lot :)?

Kind regards,
