Most certainly. While the current style SMP dates back only to 1993, there are many earlier and older models out there. An Omega should easily last as long as a Rolex. They are both very similarly and comparably made watches on both the cases and the movements.
I have a Seamaster that was made about 1967 that I frequently use as my dress watch.
