: Is it fair to say then, that the Rolex Sub is

: Please advise...
It depends on whether or not you think the extra cost of having the Rolex name on your watch is worth it. Many people would gladly pay anything to have the name of the world's most famous watch manufacturer on their watch, either because they want the recognition that goes with it, or because they have the [mistaken] belief that it'll be the best.
Functionally, there is little difference between your average Omega SMP and your average Rolex Sub. The difference therefore comes down to style, cost and brand name. Personally, even if I was stupidly rich I wouldn't buy a Rolex, because the brand gets a certain kind of attention that I wouldn't like. Even though I appreciate nice watches, people who saw me with a Rolex would think "Urgh, look at that poser with his Rolex." or something like that. The fact that I'm only 21 wouldn't help.
My Dad is 55 and has had his Rolex Submariner for 35 years, but because he is old[er], he can get away with it and not be classified as a poser. Nevertheless, his watch gets unwelcome attention. In Central London, you have to be careful wearing a Rolex, since you risk having it ripped off your wrist by a gang of thieves.
The Omega brand, on the other hand, is not well known amongst people who are not that interested in watches. You will only ever get positive attention.
