Are Omega Seamaster watches one of these special watches whose quartz movements cannot be replaced?
Thanks
: A quartz watch should easily last over 20
: years. But the problem is that once it does
: fail, obtaining replacement components for
: 20+ year old electronics will be difficult
: to near impossible. Technology moves so fast
: that component manufacturers have little
: interest in continuing to make pieces for
: outdated electronic devices.
: So it is more likely that an older quartz watch
: that fails will be unrepairable. For a
: mechanical watch, it is easier to salvage
: parts from similar watches or even handcraft
: pieces as needed.
: Of course, for simple function quartz watches,
: a newer movement can often be substituted.
: While it won't be original, it will still
: keep the watch usable.
: But fancier quartz watches like the Omega X-33,
: there will be no options. If you can not
: find original parts, the watch will not be
: repairable.
