meta-question about manual winding

In this forum, I've seen a number of people post asking how many turns are necessary to wind their Omega. And elsewhere in this Web site (I think), I've read that one distinction between manual winds and automatics is that the manual winds give you "feedback," letting you know that they're wound, whereas automatics do not.

Well, I have a SMP Diver that I bought in the spring. I wind it two times a week or so, since I sometime wear it only eight hours a day, and sometimes skip a day. It seems to me that it gives me a sort of feedback: specifically, when it's fully wound, continuing to wind it causes it to emit an audible click every other or every third turn. I imagine this to be the sound made by the operation of some sort of clutch mechanism that comes into play when the spring is fully loaded.

Can anyone comment on this? This sound begins only when I've wound the watch as much as you'd expect to need to to wind it fully. Oh, and yeah - at this point, I can shake it, trying to wind a little further by its automatic function, and the same sound will occur, until it winds down a little.
