For the answer to the NUMBER #1 most frequently asked question here--for details or value of a specific older Omega watch you have--go to: Tell Me About My Omega. | Learn more about How To Include Photos and HTML In Your Postings. | To contact someone with a question not relevant to other readers of the forum, please click on their email address and contact them privately. |
I've being reading your various questions and concerns over the last several days and while the quest for knowledge and information is always a good thing, you consistantly express concerns that your watch could fail for a wide variety of reasons and seem to need a lot of reinforcement from other owners that it won't fail.
First, no one can guaranty that your Omega, or any other fine watch will not have a problem right out of the box or later on.
Second, you seem so concerned with potential problems that I wonder if you can relax long enough to actually enjoy your watch. Perhaps you should have purchased something more disposable so you don't get so stressed out.
Third, while any watch can have a problem, your SMP, which I believe is a quartz model, is very robust and other than scratches on the bracelet, it is rare to hear of any problems with it on this or the TimeZone forum.
Remember this is only a watch. The energy you're expending to understand every possible nuance of what can go wrong seems excessive to me.
Just take reasonable care of it and you should have years of enjoyment out of it.
And relax.

Mark
: Hm.. I am serious about below questions, and
: they are not any jokes!
: 1. Somebody told me that SMP remains water
: resistant, even if the crown is opened (both
: main crown and helium valve.)
: Can anyone verify or falsify?
: 2. CPU and SMR water resistance -
: CPU´s can often be overclocked within greater
: margins, even manufacturer states specific
: CPU to run at e.g 500 MHZ.
: Can this apply to water resistance of SMR (or
: any water resistant watch) too?
: I mean, is the watch water resistant to + - 300
: metres within very narrow margin, or can
: these watches remain resistant even in
: deeper waters?
: I hope none of the questions were confusing! :)
