Re: Blue or Black
In Response To: Blue or Black ()

I can't control myself any longer, and must give my opinion for what it is worth.

I wore a mid size "Bond model" auto for two years, and liked it a lot. Because of a Lancaster, PA Service Center mistake, I wound up with a new Omega to replace the first, and went with the newer style full size black dial/black bezel on the traditional "Bond model" bracelet.

This is my everyday watch, formal suit and tie for work or on the lake and on hiking trails over the weekend. My aging eyes read the sword hands and the white date on black background much easier than the skeleton hands and black date on white background on the Bond model. Despite the bolder markings on the face and bezel, I also think the black dial and bezel is more formal than the Bond model, in that it has a more classic look.

Finally, one of the things which brought me to the Omega SMP in the first place was the excellent quality and appearance of the "Bond model" bracelet. The newer style bracelet looks too much like its competitors, and a fashion I have never been crazy about.

Do not mistake my preference for the black dial/black bezel as a dislike for the "Bond model," as I did own and wear daily a "Bond model" for two years, and would still be wearing it but for lousy service from the Lancaster, PA Service Center. While on the subject, I was first hesitant to buy the full size model as it was a little larger than many other watches, and I have a smaller wrist, However,in retrospect, I much prefer the full size SMP.

Well, that's my take for what its is worth. I love my SMP! Now if only I could find the Omega rubber strap with deployment buckle at a reasonable price, my SMP's life would be complete!
