I'm not sure where you saw the $650 "overhaul" cost posted, or what exactly that would be. Maintenance on a quartz is basically a battery change every 2-3 years, and checking the seals for
water resistance, both proceedures that should cost $20 or less. These two items are the only things I've ever seen discussed on this or others sites vis a vis quartz maintenance. One of the joys of owning a quartz is that they so very seldom need any kind of work done.
If you want to switch you should simply sell one and buy the other, or make a trade with someone such as Dr.Ed Loebl at the Watchseller.
Switching the movements, if possible, would also
require exchanging the watch dial, as the date windows on the two models are aligned slightly differently. This alone would probably add a couple of hundred dollars to the cost.
