Alex - I have a month old X33. There is no flickering or fading of any sort on any of the digital displays. I looked critically at all of them and they are rock solid on my watch, so that's not "normal" based on my experience. Keep in mind, though, that my X33 is the only one I've ever even seen....

It really is strange that you'd encounter it on two different watches.

X33s are not big sellers. Any chance those two were on the dealer's shelf for a looooooong time and the batteries are on the edge?
