My impression from readings posts here is that it's more common for an Omega (and, I would guess, all mechanical watches) to run fast than slow. (My SMP Diver runs about 4 or 5 seconds fast a day, and position doesn't seem to affect it very much.)
This would seem to be backed up by the COSC range, which has a greater allowance for fast-running movements (+6) than slow-running movements (-4).
Can anyone comment on this? Is it true that fast is more common than slow? If so, is this why the range is what it is? And what is there (if anything) about the engineering of a movement that would make fast more common than slow?
