: I have decided to get a new OMEGA seamaster
: professional but am unsure whether I should
: get a auto or quartz.
I think that if you're uncertain, you probably want a quartz.
They used to have annoying problems like running slow without warning the battery was about to run out, but as far as I know the Omega has a battery warning.
There is no question about it: A quartz will be more accurate. To me, and I think most on this forum, the slight inaccuray of mechanical watches doesn't matter a lot, but if you ask, it's quite likely it will to you.
As for servicing, the advantage probably lies with the mechanicals, as you most likely won't have to service either of them often at all, but the quartz will have to get a new battery every 2-3 years. (Unless we talk water resistance, that test is only valid for a year I think.)
What is it about the mechanical that makes you consider it at all?
