Re: Titanium vs. Stainless
In Response To: Re: Titanium vs. Stainless ()

I don't mean to interrupt your self-flagellation, Al, but I've owned and worn (24/7) a Rolex SS Submariner and a SS SMP (back to back), and the Submariner picked up at least 100x as many scratches as the SMP. 95% of the scratches on the SMP are on the bracelet clasp (where they're really not visible most of the time), but the scratches on the Rolex are distributed pretty much all over the bracelet. On top of that, the bracelet on the Submariner (and hence the entire watch) is so light that it simply feels "cheap". Rolex made such a big deal when they switched to the SEL (Solid End Link); of course, this emphasizes the fact that the rest of their links are hollow/rolled, which accounts for the light feel of the bracelet. The SMP basketweave bracelet, on the other hand, has all solid links.

: If I had known the MAJOR difference in the steel :used in Rolex's, before I bought the Omega, :knowing it was going to be my every day beater... :I probably would've gone with the Rolex.
