Preface: yes you are allowed to call me rude names in follow-ups to this message--both for having this small bit of luck and for bragging about it =:^O
Though I seldom visit shopping malls anymore, tonight I stopped at Northpoint Mall (on the north side of Atlanta). For kicks and giggles, stuck my head in the little "It's About Time" store to peek at their small selection of Swatch. Suddenly, I noticed a small fish bowl on the counter labeled "STRAP SALE $9.95." Could not resist a peek at that. Apparently they were the odds and ends of traded out straps and brands they've stopped carrying. All were as loose straps without the original packaging.
What astounded me was finding a number of the pricey Hirsch straps in there. After much debating over whether to buy all the good straps for reselling, trading or whatever, I ended up leaving with only three straps. Got two 18mm Hirsch 100M water resistant sharkskin straps (a blue and a brown), which normally sell for about $70 each! Also got a 19mm Citizen yellow shark grained leather strap, which will be perfect for occasional use on my Dynamic. Too bad they didn't have much in the 20mm I could use the most.
Have no idea whether any other "It's About Time" mall shops across the USA are having a have a similar clearance. But if you have one of these stores in your area, it might be worth a check.
