Since it was far from a scientific test or direct comparison, it is pointless to attempt to explain why he thought his Rolex scratched less.

Remember, many Rolex owners are rather defensive of their expensive purchases, so tend to think their watches MUST be better than anything else. Plus, he may have treated his Rolex more carefully, since it was a more expensive watch! Any of a number of things like that could have contributed to his belief that his Rolex was more scratch resistant than his Omega.

I've even had one person write in to me complaining how inferior his Omega was to his Rolex--only to discover that he had unknowingly bought a fake Omega!
