Re: Rolex. Good?
In Response To: Rolex. Good? ()

I donīt know much about rolex movement etc,
but qualitywise speaking of rest of the watch,
I think the rolex doesnīt live up to its price.
Pure curiosity after reading many posts on internet regarding rolex quality, drove me to visit a jeweler to see by myself if the "notorious" submariner clasp/bracelet is really that bad.
Unfortunately, the jeweller didnīt have the sub at the time, but instead I looked at an Explorer with similar bracelet to the sub. (or the same??)
The "Explorer" clasp and bracelet feels very cheap compared to SMP (bond + blk/blk). Not only compared to SMP, but compared to the "low-end luxury" watches, still it felt quite cheap.
Iīm not trying to throw dirt on rolex, (I have an oyster date, which bracelet/clasp feels quite cheap too), but if quality besides the brand name is important to you, Iīd say the sub is not worth its price.
If the sub would have better clasp/bracelet and finish similar to Omegaīs and other luxury watches, the high price would be motivated.
Sure, the dial and movementīs quality is very important but the bracelet/clasp shouldnīt be under estimated. For me, the bracelet tells you 100% of a watch, as the dial/movement tells 100%.
Rolex brings 100% quality in dial/movement, but about 30% in bracelet/clasp. IMHO.

Keo
