A different price comparison.... *PIC*

That's my point. I was trying to say they've improved the cost/value tradeoff a bit.

As of 1999 the SeMP models on straps like the 2831.80.08 which sold for $1650 MSRP had just a basic strap with standard tang-buckle. The Omega shark strap from this model sold separately for $80 MSRP.

Compared to the old SeMP bracelet, this was a $370 MSRP difference, yet there was only a $100 difference in the price of the watch. So at that time, it was $270 more to buy the bracelet afterwards instead of the strap afterwards.

But Omega does seem to be offering better straps on the strap models than they used to. Today, the rubber straps w/deployant clasps give you more for the money on the $1650 MSRP strap models. As you point out, the MSRP difference between the better straps offered now versus the bracelet is more in line with the $100 MSRP difference in the watches each way.

The other sad twist is that very few authorized dealers discount accessories. Most I've talked to won't at all or might go as much as 10% if you are buying the watch at the same time.
