If you email the serial number to info@omega.ch, they can tell you the exact movement, number of jewels, water resistance, and production date.

In general, Speedmasters have fairly limited water resistance -- usually about 30 meters. That is marginally adequate for swimming *if* the seals are in good shape. Also remember that you CANNOT use the chronograph buttons underwater without risking letting water in.

Your serial number places the watch somewhere in the mid 1990's. So it is probably due to have the seals changed and water tightness tested before you take it into water.
