Update on Serial Number Conundrum...

Wow! This has become quite a thread (for details, read this thread from the top)! I have an interesting wrinkle to add to the 'gray market turned pawn shop SMP auto with the buffed out serial number' tale.

I called the number on my warrantee card on Friday,
and asked the following questions:

1.Are you an Omega Authorized Dealer?
2. Will you honor your two year warrantee?
3. Where the heck is my friggin' serial number?
The shocking answers:
I KID YOU NOT!!!

1. I don't know.
2. Yes, of course... the UPC number on the cash register receipt will readily identify the watch as one of ours.
3. (THIS IS A DIRECT QUOTE) "OMEGA SHIPPED MANY WATCHES RECENTLY WITHOUT ENGRAVING THEM WITH SERIAL NUMBERS, AND HAVE THEREFORE INITIATED A RECALL OF THE AFFECTED WATCHES; YOU MAY SEND IT BACK TO US FOR A REPLACEMENT."
Now, *pause for laughter*... I'm tempted to take them up on their generous offer to replace the watch *pause for laughter again*. BUT, given that this is all a complete load of tripe, I think that I'll cut my losses and keep my Omega on my wrist, since it's operating beautifully, anyway.
In this guy's defence, he could barely speak english and did tell me (first and foremost) that their 'watch lady' was out sick, and to call back on Monday. They gave me her first and last name, and now she has even more to explain... updates will be provided as they become available... I can't wait to hear what the 'watch lady' has to say! I hope that you are all amused at this.
