You wouldn't be able to prove you have warranty coverage on that watch if the serial number on the card is for a different watch that the one you possess. That's why it is important.
If the original card is not there, they can simply issue you a new warranty card. As long as it is fille dout and stamped correctly by the dealer, the card will be okay.
