ETA is not exactly a different company. It is another division of Omega's parent company, SMH. ETA uses the economies of scale to make the base movements for many watch lines owned by SMH (including Bancpain). Omega then adds extra customization to the base ETA movements before they are put in Omega watches.

You may want to get the best book available on the subject, 'Omega Designs' by Anton Kreuzer. (See the zOwie Links page for more info on this book). It has more detail on the Omega movements than anything else.

In general, the movements in the 300 range are really good and collectible. You may also want to co for variety and include bumper automatics in your collection.
