Slightly over the top for Joe Average, but still not indecently expensive. Good quality, and - as the Porsche ads say - 80% of all Speedmasters ever manufactured are still in use today. There's a significant difference, though: Even really tall guys like me can use an Omega every day without problems.
Rolex = Mercedes, with the GMT-Master as the SL, the Sea-Dweller as the new badass CL, and the Daytona as the Maybach.
I don't know what the watch equivalent of Hyundai may be. I think it would even have to be below the Seiko/Timex/Citizen line. Casio maybe? Oh, the horror. ;-)
