Re: Omegas are good on resale (more)

: Next question, does this also go for Rolex watches ? I'm
: thinking of buying a Rolex too.

Sure, the same goes for Rolex.

The one important thing to remember is that, since watches are normally a NON APPRECIATING asset... the more expensive the watch, the more you stand to lose on it. A Rolex costs about double what a comparable Omega does. So new or used, you are not only risking the resale loss of more, you are also tying up more money on a neutral or negative investment.

That's where most people blow it on evaluating their purchase options -- they focus on how much they get back at resale when they should be focusing on how much they lose!

So instead of buying a Rolex, spent half the money on an Omega and put the other half in a better investment. You still get a great watch. But whether you keep or resell the watch, you'll still have more money in the end.

Or, you can get a Seamaster AND a Speedmaster for what one Rolex costs. While not financially any better, you'll have more diversity and fun!
