i think you can wear your watch for skiing, i'll definitely wear mine this season but then i'll prefer to ski chutes and deep powder ;-)

anyway i read somewhere that you can wear your watch pretty much for all sports. with one caveat, surprisingly, playing cards can be rough on the escapement: the forces of deceleration are very high when you bang down your royal flush on the table (assuming you wear your watch on the same wrist).
