I hope your experience with this interesting piece is better than mine. I hate to rag on my favorite watch company, but have let my frustration with the Pre Bond SMP fester for three years. When I got mine (a two-tone quartz in October, 1989) I was happy with it, it was accurate and stylish, but within a year, I started noticing its feet of clay. By way of background, I also currently own the full size Bond Auto (which I've had for two years with no problem and spot-on accuracy) and a Rolex 16013 Datejust. I have also owned the Speedmaster Moon, and Rolex Air-King. I traded the Air King for the Speedy, and never regretted it. As for the Bond SMP, I like it better than the Datejust (the SMP keeps much better time, incidentally).
By contrast, the Pre-Bond Seamaster was a total piece of crap! The Flip lock never worked well, the bracelet pins had a tendency to loosen and fall out, and the "Omega" logo on the clasp fell off twice. It sprang a leak once, and I had it repaired by a local watchmaker because I could not get it serviced locally by an authorized watchmaker, and it still doesn't work . I would sell it in a minute for the best offer if I could find a buyer, so it sits in a drawer.
I'm convinced that Omega came up with their new fine (no exaggeration in my opinion) new SMP to make amends for the collossal failure of the Pre-Bond.
