The serial numbers are issued when the watch MOVEMENTS are manufactured, long before they are even assembled into a finished watch.

So they do not have a lot of direct correlation to when the completed watches make it into a customer's hands. Some watches move quickly through the distributor to a waiting customer, others sit in a jewelry store's inventory for months before they are bought.

So there really is no sense to be made of trying to interpret serial numbers like that.
