I avoid winding my automatics manually because I'd have to do most of them every day... a watch winder works better for me, as I can store them on the winder until I choose to wear the watch.

As well, I'm also trying to avoid wear and tear on the crown seal on a regular basis. I'd agree, though on giving the crown a couple of winds every couple of months when I mess up, or when adjusting the date... I hadn't thought of the lubes in the winding mechanism until now. Thanks for the thought.
