Re: I had the same problem

: How could markings on the dial or the outside
: of the watch POSSIBLY alter the performance
: of the mechanism inside the watch?

When I said:

"could this somehow affect the watch's accuracy"

I was not refering to the accuracy of the movement. What I was questioning relates to scale. There are two scales here, the bezel and the face. Choose either as your "Standard" and use it to measure the other. If both scales are incrementally uniform, then any incongruity will exist uniformlly. If the increments are NOT uniform (as relates to each other), then variation will also be "un-uniform".

As my bezel's "V" lines up in a couple of places but not in others, is only a matter(probably) of the ratchet mechanism. However, that the "30" on the other side of the bezel becomes increasingly farther away from its correspong face number when the "V" does line up on the 9 and next the 8, this makes me question the FACES uniformity to scale. If this scale is off then (for example)when the second hand sweeps from the 1 to the 2...is this a true 5 seconds?

That was my point.
Thank you for your help...I appreciate it.
Jeff
