For those interested in time and chronometers...

The cable channel A&E here in the USA will be premiering their movie of 'Longitude' this week. It is based on the book by Dava Sobel, about the creation of the first marine chronometer--which was the desperately needed solution for ships to determine their east-west position at sea.

Looks to be pretty good--but note that it is 4 hours long! Sounds like one to tape on the VCR and watch in installments. More detail on the series at the link below. Be sure to read the interview with the author--it has a lot of good information.

Movie is airing (at least on the USA East coast) on Sunday and Tuesday at both 12:00 AM ET and 8:00 PM ET. A 30 minute 'making of' special airs Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM ET
