Re: Replacement Bezel for 2531.80

: Thanks, I think I'm going to need it. I'm not
: too concerned about the bezel or insert
: looking 100% original, as long as it doesn't
: look like total junk(like some of the
: inserts I've seen on eBay) as anything will
: be better than the state it's in at the
: moment... To be honest, given the treatment
: I got from the dealer, I wouldn't set foot
: in their store again, and if I go through
: Omega's repair center, I'm still looking at
: the kind of prices on ofrei.com, which was
: why I'd hoped to find replacement parts on
: the 'grey market'.

I think you are faced with really two problems. One is that there isn't a big market for high quality aftermarket parts like bezels, since higher quality means higher cost. Once you get to a certain price level, you start to think it's better just to get the original factory part and be done.

Second, I think the reason that bezel inserts are so cheap and easy to find on ebay is that people do look to both swap bezel colors on watches like the Planet Ocean, and they also look to replace them if the bezel insert gets scratched. A scratched up bezel can be polished to look like new, but the insert is just painted aluminum and can't be repaired.

I don't know if this is possible, but you could try to get a watchmaker to polish your banged up bezel and then just buy a cheap insert on ebay until you have the money to get a factory replacement.
