Hi John,
That's a fine looking Speedmaster that you have there.
It is called the "Day-Date" version ( for obvious reasons )
The Number 54532617 should match the number stamped on the movement ( & any papers that you may have ) This is the Movement Serial number & is unique to this watch. Although this info isn't publicly available ( only Omega has this info ) this number can be used to date your watch.
Your watch is listed in a 1998 Dealers Catalogue that I have.
The PIC number ( A lot of guys here use this to refer to the watch ) is 3321.30.00
It has an 1151 Automatic movement. I'm not sure if the gold parts are plated or solid, but the gold is defiantely 18ct Gold.
The Deutsche Mark list price ( in 1998 ) was 4400 DM ( A "normal" Speedy Pro cost 3400 DM then )
I don't know when the watch first came onto the market, but it is NOT listed in the 2000 Dealer Catalogue.
This basic model is still available today. The current model uses a different movement number, minor changes have been made to the hands & the EXACT model that you show ( Stainless case / Gold parts / White dial etc etc ) is no longer available.
I hope this helps.
Steve
