stem seperated from watch

This morning I unscrewed the crown on my Seamaster 120 to reset the time after sitting on the shelf for the weekend. When I tried to pull the crown to the position to adjust the time, the crown and stem came all the way out of the body of the watch. I didn't pull any harder than I ever have since I got the watch about 4 years ago. I put it back in and screwed the crown into place, but it now won't adjust the time, it only clicks out one position, and changes the date. I'm guessing this is out of warranty. Any ideas what I'd expect to pay for a repair and how long I'll be without watch?
