Here is the schtick... I was at the L.A. Omegamania event the weekend before last. I had the opportunity to ask both Omega and Antiquorum folks about the 50th Anniversary model... They, to a person, said that the 50th Anniversary edition Speedmaster would be announced at Basel [meaning the BaselWorld Watch exposition held from 12-19 April 2007].
I told them, that I wouldn't be so bold as to ask them to "spill the beans" but if they wanted to say anything I was all ears, and they smiled, nodded and nothing further was said.
SO...
If past years are any indication of when we'll hear news of new products... We might hear some murmuring a day or two before Basel opens. Occasionally something leaks out in the last moments before the official announcement at the fair. But until that time, chances are anything you see, hear or is posted is nearly certainly either guesswork or fabrication.
As for the patch? Those pictures were snapped of apparel that Antiquorum/Omega personages were given at the finish of the U.S. portion of the Omegamania tour.
This will likely be the last tangible 50th anniversary news we hear before Omega makes an official announcement. So until such time, unless I or other's hear something new... I'll be referring folks to this post. |
