One option: look for a used Speedmaster Pro 861. There are lots of them out there, and it shouldn't take you long to find a clean one for a good price, as I did a few weeks ago.
You should be able to find a private party watch for around $1300 and one from a dealer for maybe $1500.
Once you've zeroed in on one, the experts here will be happy to take a look at the pics and help you make sure it's legit.
