Absolutely!!!

Victim is a little too strong though methinks.

It's very hard to liberate onesself from the concensus trance that so many, including significant others, have conditioned us to accept as normal and real over the entirety of our lives.

In order to triumph against mass marketing, we would also have to rebel against consumerism and all that that entails, including rebelling against the idea that we all have to be good little economic citizens and produce and buy stuff.

Hell, we are told that that is the path happiness eh?

The best we can do is prolly go 'beyond' the brand and acquire things that give us pleasure - beyond the ersatz pleasure we are promised by the dream makers and spin doctors.

I guess the first step is to teach out kids to be critical thinkers and get them to accept the fact that no-one is going to lament on their deathbed that they should have bought that Planet Ocean!

If we couldnt have 'things'
