Re: prevent scratches on new speedmaster

The best way to keep it scratch free is to leave it at the store and never buy it. It will always look pretty under the glass of the display.

You are always going to take on some battle damage when you wear it. The crystal is very unlikely to scratch as it is almost as hard as diamond; but the bracelet will always take it. If it really bothers you, you can use a very mild abrasive to lightly sand down the scratches, but I've always found that there is a certain amount of pride in the scratches one gathers over the years.

I personally do get annoyed at the bezel getting scratched up, so I periodically buy a replacement insert off of Ebay. But other than that, wear your watch with pride and consider the ravages of life as just another story to tell, rather than an impediment to a beautiful watch.
