Re: PO "Small" Size?

: In light of the news Omega are to discontinue
: the black on black SMP, does anyone have any
: information as to whether Omega will bring
: out the PO in a smaller size than is
: currently available?
: I own an SMP mid size quartz, which I intended
: giving to my brother in the future and
: upgrading to an automatic version of Black
: SMP. Whilst a slightly larger watch wouldnt
: be a problem, I feel the "small"
: PO is definitely too large in this respect,
: which is a comment I have read from numerous
: people. Is it likely with the black SMP
: gone, Omega will open up the PO market to
: the more skinny wristed amongst us?

Anything is possible, but my gut feeling is that they'll stick with the 42mm as the "small" version. If you look at the general trend in the sizes of Omega's watches over the years, you'll notice that they have increased in size. We've seen the big size 45.5mm Planet Ocean, the 49.2mm Railmaster, and increased case sizes among much of the Speedmaster line. With big watches being the current trend, I don't think Omega is looking to release downsized versions of current models.

: Also, will Omega continue to support the black
: SMP in terms of new bezels etc into the
: future?

Omega's website states:

Omega guarantees repairs and the delivery of spare parts for its watches for at least 15 years from the date production is discontinued. Beyond this time, Omega will do its utmost to ensure collectors' items and vintage watches can be repaired.

So, we can assume that new bezels will be around for at least the next 15 years. However, the 2254.50 (black SMP) was such a big seller for Omega that it wouldn't surprise me if they continued to manufacture spare parts for even longer.
