Re: Reserve question

: This is going to sound like a dumb question. If
: a watch is rated at having a 40 hour reserve
: and one were to use the chrono (stopwatch)
: function, would that reduce the reserve by
: half?

: For example, when I take off my Seamaster over
: the weekend, it will run for about 40 hours,
: then it quits. If I were to run the
: stopwatch when I take my Seamaster off for
: the weekend, would it only run for about 20
: hours?

Not at all. According to Omega, keeping the chronograph running will only decrease the power reserve by about 2%. Although keeping the chronograph running has a minimal effect on power reserve, the one thing to keep in mind is that it will have an effect on your watch's "wear and tear", since you now have additional parts that are being used continuosly rather than occasionally. This may result in your needing to service your watch more frequently.
