Re: First Timer Looking to Buy a Seamaster

: Hi,

: I've decided after much deliberation to
: purchase a Seamaster (the black dial model
: #2254.50.00). Really love the watch. I do
: have a couple questions that I would greatly
: appreciate any feedback on: 1) any AD
: recommendations in the Cleveland, OH area?

Not in Ohio, but close enough. You also won't pay sales tax on out-of-state purchases. Check your e-mail for a referral to the "forum favorite" AD.

: 2) the AD's I've visited have all quoted a 20%
: discount. I haven't really pushed, but is
: that a cap imposed by Omega? Should I expect
: to do better if that's the initial discount
: a dealer announces when I first inquire as
: to the price?

You can negotaite, but there's a limit to how big a discount you can get. Dealer cost is 55% of MSRP, so at a 20% discount, they make 25% profit. Still, you can do better than 20%.

: 3) I understand the Seamaster Professional is
: being discontinued. Does this mean I need to
: pick one up at a store that has them in
: stock, or can ADs still order them?

The AD that I referred you to received a recent shipment of 2254.50's, so he should still have some in stock. Although that model has been discontinued, this AD will keep ordering them as long as Omega keeps sending them to him. However, once the supply in Switzerland is gone, that will be it.
