Re: water damage
In Response To: water damage ()

this happened to my old IWC Protofino. not a swimming watch but I wore it for everything for 15 years anyway. I dropped it on the floor and the crown bent. Not thinking, I went swimming as usual (lived in Cyprus and the time) and salt water got inside. It fogged up but kept running. I sendt it to IWC several months later to get sorted and the crown fixed. they changed several parts (3 wheels, the ticking thing, date plate, seal and power spring + the crown offcourse) but nothing really dramatic nor expensive. was expecting worse, maybe I was lucky..

got the changed parts back but cannot see any rust on them except the crown bar.

nb: this was on a mechanical watch.

: some condensation under the crystal. Is my
: watch toast or is there hope of repair?
