Looking for advice and info on De Ville cases.

Hi,

doubtless someone here knows better than I, and Im hoping you can share that knowledge.

I have Seamaster in a monocoque case, dated around 1962, case reference 14740. Its missing the bezel, and it seems very miserable to get a replacement.

I see that there are other De Villes around, from time to time, with case refs like 165XXX, 166XXX, 133XXX & 135XXX and some that take that tiny 620 movement as well, unsure of the case ref. Do they all use the same bezel, or an equivalent? How would I find out?

I also notice this comment; "The bezel is a little warped and can pop off the case. " Can you treat them for that with heat, or is that just likely to ruin them?

Last Ive also been advised to take it to a manufacturing jeweler and get a replacement made, but I think that might be a pretty last ditch effort.

Any advice on this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bah
