Re: Dating an Omega
In Response To: Re: Dating an Omega ()

Tks yr info, the watch was purchased end march this year.
The 'chronometer certificate' I received only mentions the Ref (which seems to be the watch type, 42mm PO SS), and the watch number (identical to the number behind the watch). The format is the same red color and design as the Omega 'international warranty' and 'pictograms' crdit card style/sizes cards that also followed the watch. Shld i hv gotten something more?

the dealer i bought is serious and long established, he displays some Omegas but had to get my model delivered, which took just a few days. I hv no doubt the watch is real but starting to wonder if it may hv been a display watch from another dealer, still I shld get all the documents..

: You have nothing to worry about regarding the
: laser engraved logo on the caseback (as long
: as the watch came from an AD with all boxes
: and cards). Omega started using this logo in
: 2004, and the Planet Ocean wasn't released
: until the late spring of 2005. Omega has not
: been consistent in making sure that every
: watch has this logo on it, so its absence
: does not mean you have a fake or an older
: watch. The logo was originally placed only
: on the Bond Seamasters, since this was
: Omega's best selling watch and was therefore
: the most copied by counterfeiters. Still, I
: can't stress enough the fact that not every
: genuine Omega Seamaster or Planet Ocean will
: have this logo on it. I have seen several
: watches for sale at AD's that lacked this
: logo.

: Since the Planet Ocean wasn't released until
: 2005, your watch can't be more than 2 1/2
: years old. As Hewybaby suggested, if you
: e-mail Omega at aftersales@omega.ch, they
: will send you the COSC certificate for your
: watch. This will at least tell you when your
: watch's movement was submitted for testing.
: The watch would have been fully assembled
: sometime after the date on the COSC
: certificate.

: I hope this helps.
